The Legacy Parkway - The Legacy Parkway project, awarded to the joint venture team of Carter + Burgess, Horrocks Engineers and H.W. Lochner, will be a four-lane, limited-access, divided highway extending approximately 14 miles from I-215 at 2100 North in North Salt Lake, northward to the junction of I-15 and U.S. Highway 89 near Farmington. A multiple-use trail for pedestrians, bicyclists, and equestrians will parallel the Parkway, which is being designed to blend cohesively with the built and natural environments through which it passes. As mitigation for the Parkway's impact on approximately 100 wetland acres, a 2,100-acre Legacy Nature Preserve has been established to protect precious wetlands and preserve wildlife habitat forever. The Horrocks Engineering team was responsible for the roadway design of Segment #3 (Glovers Lane to I-15 & US-89), the design of all Structures along the corridor, and right-of-way engineering, utilities coordination, and surveying for the entire project.

The Pleasant Grove Interchange - The Pleasant Grove Interchange Project provides Lindon and Pleasant Grove cities with a direct connection to the I-15 freeway. The interchange is a compressed diamond that disturbed minimal adjacent property owners and yet provided the necessary capacity. Horrocks Engineers worked under tight time constraints to turn out a full set of construction plans and documentation that includes right-of-way plans, utility plans, and structures. The project included landscaping and water features, but not the facilities to supply the water for operation. Horrocks was hired separately, by the City, to design the water supply system. The concept for the water feature was to pump water to a pond with a fountain at the top of the interchange where the water would flow down a "stream" in the median and return to the pump station to be re-circulated.

Southern Corridor and Atkinville Interchange - A new single point interchange will be constructed on Interstate 15 at mile post 2. This new interchange is located in the Atkinville area, just north of the port of entry in St. George. The interchange will consist of on and off ramps for I-15, a bridge over I-15, retaining walls, and aesthetic treatments. The Southern Corridor is a four lane expressway beginning at the Atkinville Interchange and connecting with State Route 9 (SR 9) in Hurricane. The length of the Southern Corridor is approximately 26 miles long. The environmental impact statement has been approved, so as funding becomes available sections of this corridor will be constructed. The first part of the corridor begins with the Atkinville Interchange on Interstate 15 at M.P. 2. Construction will begin on this interchange and the first segment of the Southern Corridor in late 2006 or early 2007. The first segment of the Southern Corridor will be two and a half miles in length and will connect to River Road.

The University Avenue Interchange and I-15 Widening Project - The University Avenue and I-15 widening project modified an existing interchange to connect Provo's 1860 South Street to the Interstate. It included upgrading geometrics and widening of 3.1 miles of the I-15 freeway and 1.1 miles of I-15 median closure with transitional pavement widening from four to six lanes. Wetlands and soils both presented significant challenges during the design process and throughout construction. Two wetland mitigation site were developed totaling more than 30 acres. The entire project was designed and constructed as a two phase improvement, with all phase I elements retained in the final project. It contained 7 new structures and provided for widening 3 existing structures. Extensive traffic modeling and analysis were required. Several different interchange alternatives were developed and analyzed. Other facets of the project included environmental studies and documentation, right-of-way research and design, right-of-way documentation, noise studies, and noise attenuation design.

Bob Barton Road, Jerome County, Idaho - Horrocks Engineers is currently performing the environmental evaluation and design of 5.4 miles of Bob Barton Road for the Jerome Highway District and the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council. The project extends from the intersection of Golf Course Road to 500 West and includes four canal crossings. The project includes reconstructing the pavement and improving the typical section by adding shoulders, clear zone, and adequate drainage ditches. Major intersections within the corridor will be upgraded with left turn lanes and adequate turning radii to accommodate the significant volumes of large truck traffic. The project contains a number of Historic Places. The horizontal alignment for the roadway was developed to minimize impacts to these important resources. The project will utilize federal funds.
