THE CITY OF AMERICAN FORK PRESSURIZED IRRIGATION INFORMATION FOR RESIDENTIAL CONNECTION

CONNECTION PROCESS

1. When work has begun in your area you will receive a notice asking you to place a stake in your yard where you would like the connection box located. It should be placed anywhere along the inside of the sidewalk (2 feet from the sidewalk). The connection will need to be at least 5 feet from your water meter or any other utilities. There is no connection fee to have the service brought to your property. When work is completed you will receive a letter from the City informing you that the water is in the pipes and service is available to your immediate area. After receipt of the letter you will need to contact American Fork City Public Works office at 763-3060 (276 East 200 North) to schedule your inspection. Please be aware that your culinary rates will increase 30 days after you have received the letter. To learn more about costs please click here.

2. After you have scheduled your home inspection please complete the Installation Permit form and Connections Agreement form and be prepared to submit it to the inspector at your home visit. These forms are available at the public works office, city hall, the project web site and by phone at 763-5281.

3. Prior to your on-site inspection you should disconnect your sprinkler system from your culinary line and connect to your pressurized irrigation box (click here to see a connection figure). Fill in the old stop and waste valve with concrete. Make sure to leave an open trench in the immediate area, so that the connection is visible for inspection. The connection will need to be a minimum of five feet from your water service or any other utilities.

Individuals wishing to do the work themselves can obtain a parts list via the project web site. The web site also contains a list of service personnel that can be hired to do the connection work. City personnel will inspect the connection to insure that it is done properly. Inspections will be done in the order they are received.
